Michigan State women's basketball head coach Robyn Fralick talks to junior guard Theryn Hallock (4) as she runs off the court at the Breslin Center on Jan. 22, 2025.

The Michigan State University women’s basketball team has begun its 2025 transfer portal push, adding an in-conference foe.

The Spartans landed sophomore Rashunda Jones, who spent the last two seasons with the Purdue Boilermakers. Jones announced her commitment to join MSU women's basketball head coach Robyn Fralick’s squad via social media on Sunday.

Referred to by some as "Spider" Jones, the 5’8 guard had a productive second season with the Spartans Big Ten foe. Jones averaged 9.8 points per game along with 3.3 rebounds and 3.7 assists on a 47% field goal percentage.

Ranking second on Purdue’s roster in scoring and leading in assists, Jones will be a much-needed addition to the guard room of MSU. The Spartans are losing graduate guards Nyla Hampton and Jaddan Simmons, both of whom played a key role in the successful 2024-25 season.

The Spartans saw Jones in each of her two seasons at Purdue, but it was in the second meeting where her presence was seen. Although having a silent scoring outing in their first meeting in 2024, Jones scored nine points with two steals and rebounds in a loss against the Spartans on Jan. 1.

Jones will join a trio of high school recruits that will be added to the roster next season.
